2021 Moira Furnace Folk Festival

Founded by Dave Johns

A word from our MFFF Committee Chairman...

After what we have had to cope with over the last 18 months because of the pandemic, including the cancellation of the 2020 Festival, it was absolutely fantastic to have the Festival this year and it was wonderful to meet up and talk to all those people we have not seen since 2019.

The Committee, who do a sterling job, and I would like to thank all the people who made this year’s event possible...

Tom and Jess who run Moira Furnace and all their volunteers who continue to make the site a beautiful place to be.

The set–up crew who spent Wednesday and Thursday putting everything in place and Monday clearing it all away. Gerald and the stewards who made sure that everything ran smoothly. The Jacksons, who not only ran the Ceilidh and the Skiffle, but organised the camping site as well.

The Scouts who ran the car parks over the weekend.

The Railway pub and The Rawdon Arms for providing venues for the sing–a–rounds. Also, Moira Miners Welfare for both the Ceilidh and overflow camping facilities.

All those who ran the workshops and other events over the weekend and the English civil war re-enactment group (The Society of the Open Rope) who shocked us regularly by firing their cannon.

Lastly, we thank the Artists who performed for us all as it has been a very difficult time for them as they have been unable to perform in public for the last 18 months.

We pride ourselves on this being a friendly Festival and 2021 I think has been the friendliest yet, even though it rained on Saturday, everyone I spoke to had smiles on their faces and said how they had missed it.

So, roll on 2022 and let’s try to make it even better than this year, difficult I know but we’ll give it a good try.

Stay Safe
